Today’s talent pipeline sits at the intersection of military service, workforce development, and higher education. This webinar brings together Kelvin Gumbs of Purdue and Ivan Denton from the DOL to unpack why these systems must operate as a unified ecosystem—and how small systemic shifts can unlock outsized gains for veterans, employers, and institutions. We’ll examine the gap between being “military friendly” and truly “military ready,” the translation problem that keeps world-class military skills from mapping cleanly to civilian roles and potential military credit.
Kelvin Gumbs served 22 years of military service culminating as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Navy and now serves as the Executive Director for Military Educational and Strategic Partnerships at Purdue. Ivan Denton served in the Army and National Guard before moving to the Department of Labor leading the Veterans Employment and Training Service and instrumental in the amendments to the TAP laws and SkillBridge programs.
